Merlin Models 1/72 scale Westland Wapiti Mk.III model aircraft kit

The Westland Wapiti was a general purpose aircraft used by the RAF, RAAF, RCAF and SAAF during the 1930s and into the early 1940s. It traces its design back to the DH.9A which it replaced. Wapitis were used quite extensively in the Middle East, Africa and India. This particular example was operated in East Africa in 1941 by the RAF.

Curtiss Cleveland Mk I

Heller 1/72 Scale Curtiss Cleveland Mk.I

The Cleveland was actually an exported version of the US Navy's SBC-4 Helldiver. Five Clevelands, as the RAF called them, were used by 24 Squadron RAF but due the aircraft's age they ended up being used for ground instructional purposes only.

Bell Airacobra Mk.I

Revell 1/72 scale Bell P-39 Airacobra RAF 601 Squadron Palstic Model Kit

The Bell P-39 Airacobra was an American built fighter aircraft from the Second World War. It was unique in that it had its engine located amidships instead in the nose. This design allowed for the inclusion of a heavy nose gun. The engine itself was connected to the propeller through gears and an extension shaft that ran below the pilot. The Airacobra was widely used by the US Army Air Corps and Air Force as well as the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union was the biggest user of this aircraft. On the other end was the British Royal Air Force which briefly used the Airacobra in 1941. It was assigned to only one squadron - No 601.
