The Morane Saulnier M.S. 500 "Criquet" was a post-WWII version of the famous German Fiesler Fi-156 "Storch" Short Take-Off and Landing observation aircraft. The Germans had set up an assembly line in France to produce the Fi-156 and after the war, the French continued to produce this world class design. The French used the M.S. 500 overseas in French Indochina and subsequently they were passed on to the Vietnam Armed Forces. This particular aircraft was serving in Nhatrang in 1952.
